Welcome to the homepage for treksandtors

This site is a photographic record of my walks around Devon and Cornwall and in particular Dartmoor. plus a few places (other regions) further afield including the Lake District. Each of the walks will have a route map, pictures and distance on it, where the walks are over higher ground or tors there will also be links to the Dartmoor Tor pages themselves. If the walk includes a point of interest, a bridge or historical site there will also be a link to that, these points of interest can also be found on the Not The Tors page. Both the tor pages have a map on them, showing where they are. Click on each of the pins to get a link to the tor page. From these maps you can link together walks, places of interest and tors, to make this easier there is a map below with all the points marked for you, basically its everything on Dartmoor that I’ve been to.

All the walks, on the link above, are split into years to make it easier to find this years walks. there is also a recent section to the right, which gives you my last 5 walks alongside a monthly breakdown should you want to look at walks by certain months. If you need to know where to park the trusty automobile then a list of parking spots can be found, split into 4 parts of Dartmoor, on the Parking page. For me I would use the parking page and map alongside that of the Everything Dartmoor map below to work out your parking places and then routes to see things, searching for my walks to see if I have done that area for you.

The walks themselves, they will be of varying types, terrains, distances in order to try and suit all walkers. The idea is to bring to you walking in the South West and especially on Dartmoor in all conditions. They will take you to see the villages, the history, the menhirs and stone rows, the granite and tors, beaches and coastal paths. Some of the walks might include a bog rating as Dartmoor has plenty of them, there may even be the odd pub included because let’s face it we deserve a reward after all that hard work has been done!! The final important part is on the page called A Bit About The Website, this carries the advice and sensible bits about walking on moorlands with care to ensure we all return unhurt.
